Columbia Pub Crawl 2024

Saturday January 27

A couple of dozen alcoholics beer enthusiuasts visited several breweries and a distillery. Some folks did the first part of the crawl, others the latter, others one or two places, and others the entire thing.

We met at Cushwa Brewing at 11:00ish. The original location is in Williamsport. Today we visited Cushwa's Columbia location, which opened Labor Day Weekend 2023, and by Thanksgiving had the Rad Pies kitchen up and running. Several folks got food. The beers I sampled were:

Less than half a mile away is Reckless Shepherd Brewing, which used to be called Frisco Tap House (and used to be at the Cushwa location we'd just left). The full name is now "Frisco and the Reckless Shepherd Brewpub & Entertainment". This location, which opened in October 2022, has two sides: a restaurant/bar with food and guest taps; and a very large space with Reckless beers and a stage where bands play. We were in the latter. I tasted:

Here is the restaurant/bar:

Next we went to Black Flag Brewing. We stayed here longer than we'd planned because our next scheduled stop, Oversea Distillery, just a stone's throw away, was closed for a private event. I sampled:

Shortly before 3:30 we arrived at Hysteria Brewing, which used to make some very good IPAs until shortly before the pandemic. There were about a dozen beers on tap, including some guest beers. I tried:

At 4:00 we went next door to Lost Ark Distilling, which makes a number of cocktails. There were several rum drinks on tap so I got a sampler of 4: a mojito, a punch, a spritz, and something with ginger beer. The place had a nice atmosphere.

A little before 6:00 we got to Sapwood Cellars. I tried:

What a fine way to spend a winter day: with good beer and good friends.
